Mudakathan as a perennial climber with balloon like fruits and is best identified with the leaves .To treat for hair growth and join pains

Sans.-Jyotishmati; Karavi; karnaspota. Eng.-Ballon vine or winter cherry. Hind.-Kanphata. Mab.-Kanphuti; Shibjal. Ben.-Nayaphataki; L ataphatkiri. Bom.-Bodha. Guj.-Karodio. Can.-Kanakaia. Mal.-Ulinja. Tam.-Moddacotan; Mooda-cottan. Tel.-Buddakakara. Fr.-Poi-de-coeur. Ger.-Gemeiner herzsamen.

Uses.-Root and the leaves of the herb in decoction are used in rheumatism, nervous diseases, piles, chronic bronchitis and phthisis. Leavs fried are applied to the pubes to increase the menstrual flow in amenorrhoea. Leaves boiled in oil such as castor oil are applied over rheumatic pains, swllings and tumours of various kinds etc.

It should be given after meals.It has been found by me very beneficial in cases of asthma etc.
