Uses – fruits are employed as emetic in doses of 1 to 2 drachms; as pergative in larger dose; nauseant and expectorant in doses of 10 to 20 grains ofthe pericarp or pulp and kernal of the fruit. Fumigations with it are useful in hysteria and melancholia. made into paste with vinegar it is externally applied to ites of reptiles and of centipedes, scorption-sting etc.
