Uses.-Roots are regarded in ayurveda as cooling,demulcent,carminative,diaphoretic,diuretic and they enter into the composition of a well-know fever drink called sadanga paniya. Fragrant root is also used as astringent and tonic in combination with other medicines of the sort in inflammation,haemorrhage from internal organs etc.
