Uses.- This valuable spice consists of the dired kernels of the seeds. They are largely employed as a flavouring agent and condiment. A compound power made of nutmeg and dry dinger each five grains and caraway 10grains is a good carminative taken before meals. It can also be safely administered in delirium tremens, ininsomnia, where opium has failed an chloral is contra-indicated,and may also be used as carminative during convalescence after diarrhoea etc.

Uses : Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). People with underactive thyroid have high blood levels of a hormone called thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). People with underactive thyroid can also have low levels of thyroid hormone. Taking ashwagandha seems to lower TSH and increase thyroid hormone levels in people with a mild form of underactive thyroid.Insomnia. Some research shows that taking ashwagandha might help people sleep better etc.

Uses.-Plant and dired spiny fruits are used in decoction or infusion in cases of spermatorrhoea,phosphaturia,diseases of the genito-urinary system such dysuria,ganorrhoea,gleet,chronic cystitis,calculous affections,urinary disorders,incontinence of urine,gout and impotence.
Water rendered mucilaginous by the plant is drunk as a remedy for impotence and an infusion of the stem is administered in gonorrhoea. It should be given after meals.It has been found by me very beneficial in cases of asthma etc.
