Description
Senna auriculata ,leguminous tree ;subfamily Caesalpinioideae. It is commonly known by its local names matura tea tree, avaram ; ranawara , Kannada-āvarike, Telu- taṃgēḍu, Tam. avarai ; Hind- Tarwar Eng – avaram senna,Tanner’s cassia, Marathi-Taravada, State flower –Telangana; Tam- Aavaaram poo . aavaaram vethai , aavaaram elai, aavaaram root ,aavaaram stem all items are combined.
Uses: Cassia auriculata is an evergreen shrub that grows in many parts of India and in other parts of Asia. The flower, buds, leaves, stem, root, and unripe fruit are used for treatment, especially in Ayurvedic medicine.The powder mixed with coconut or gingelly oil is applied to the sore eyes. “Seeds are also used in diabetes and chylous urine. ” The plant is used in the form of a powder mixed with honey or the decoction, especially of flower buds, is administered in chylous urine and diabetes with excellent results. Twigs are used as tooth-brushes etc.
